Family owned · Catonsville, MD · Since 1912

Caring for Catonsville families for four generations.

The Witzke family has been answering that call since 1912. Craig is on the line now — day or night, at the hardest moment and every one after.

If you have just experienced a loss,
please call. We will answer.

Craig is awake, listening, and ready to help you through the next small step — at any hour of the day or night. You will not reach a recording.

(443) 830-0310 1835 Frederick Rd, Catonsville · Available 24 hours, every day.

A funeral is not a transaction. It is a moment a family carries for the rest of their lives. We treat it that way — every family, every time.

Our family

Four generations.
One quiet promise.

In 1912, the Witzke family began serving Baltimore families from a small chapel on Lombard Street. The name on the door has changed only once since then.

Three moves, a century of Baltimore neighborhoods, four generations, and one lifelong Catonsville resident later — Craig Witzke opened Candle Light Funeral Home at 1835 Frederick Road. A licensed funeral director for over 25 years. The same family. The same promise.

What we offer

A service for every family,
arranged the way you want it.

Traditional or simple, burial or cremation. Nothing is added that you did not ask for, and nothing that matters is ever left out.

Pre-planning

Most families who plan ahead
say the conversation itself helped.

Planning removes a hundred small decisions from a day that will already be hard. It is one of the kindest things you can do for the people you love.

There is no cost to sit with Craig. No paperwork is signed unless you ask. He will come to your kitchen table if that is easier.

Families we have served

In their words.

“Families should not have to think about the funeral. They should be able to think about their person. That is what we are here for.”

— Craig Witzke, fourth-generation owner
Grief support

The work of grief
does not end on the day of the service.

Craig and his team follow up — a check-in call weeks later, a resource shared when the holidays arrive, a conversation whenever you need one. This is part of the service, not an add-on.

Veteran services

Military honors,
arranged with the respect they earned.

Flag folding and presentation. Honor guard coordination. VA paperwork guided by Craig, who has helped veteran families through every step for over 25 years. All branches, all eras. No charge for the coordination.
